The Monthly Web Advice by Marketing Ultimum:
The Interaction between Social media & Search engines

The question of whether there’s a direct relationship between social media and search engines has been one of the most debated topics in the online search industry. Over the years, different statements have been made by search engines that might suggest different answers. In 2010, both Bing and Google said that pages rank can be impacted by social signals. But, in another statement released in 2014, Google denied a direct impact of Social on rankings. Since then, many have studied the question. It has turned out that, since 2016, a consistent rise of URLs from social media such as Facebook and Twitter ranking high in Google search results was observed. With diverging data coming from different places, the question arises: How does Social Media Impacts S.E.O.? Whether social signals are a direct ranking factor or not, here are two ways how they impact your S.E.O.:
Link potential: We know that the number of links pointing towards a website or a page is an important ranking factor. Consequently, the more content you actively publish on social media, the more it will be seen and shared by others and the more people will link to your content.
Audience building: Nowadays, having only a website or a web page simply isn’t enough to get people to visit it. In this highly competitive landscape, you need to actually build a following, a pool of potential clients to whom you can raise awareness to about your brand, products or services.
There are also other ways social media impact your S.E.O. and your overall web presence. Knowing that, it’s pertinent to know how you can best act on that knowledge to benefit your presence. To conclude, here are a few things you can do now to indirectly help your S.E.O. with social media: Share good and relevant content; Post updates regularly and optimize your social media profiles.
If you’d like to learn more about the strategies discussed here or to discover how you can achieve better rankings for your page, Marketing Ultimum offers you a free strategic planning session! You can contact their team today by phone: (438) 793-4960 or email: support@marketingultimum.ca. You can also visit their Website.
